Our founder, Garrett Johnson, grew up developing the love of music through pursuit of multiple instruments and styles. However, from piano lessons as a child, saxophone lessons in middle school, and guitar lessons in high school, he found himself dissatisfied with the format and styles of the teachers he was learning from. Eventually, he thought “I will just do it myself!” and applied himself to progressing in the instruments he already knew, and teaching himself the Flute, Trombone, Drum Kit, Bass, Ukulele, and to sing!

But he didn’t stop there. A decade ago, he began to give lessons to friends and family. Nothing big, just a session here or there, some tips and pointers, etc. But as time went on, he began to realize his love for teaching beginners, to help them discover their own passions for music. So, began to develop different curriculums to meet the needs of students in their learning journey in a way that he did not receive from his teachers. These lesson plans are tried and true, being refined through the years, and are now consolidated into one place for the best experience for our students and staff alike!
